The Whittier Planning Commission at its 7 p.m. Monday meeting will hold a public hearing to consider an ordinance regulating live entertainment at businesses that sell alcoholic beverages.
The proposed new law will set operational standards dealing with lighting, noise, security and other issues.
The City Council asked for the ordinance because a number of businesses want to offer on-site entertainment, stated Jeff Collier, director of community development, in a written staff report.
“Clear, concise and consistent regulations need to be codified as this will provide a reference for business owners to know exactly what the city’s expectations are in regards to their operations,” Collier said.
The commission also will hold a study session to discuss proposals to regulate massage parlors and smoking lounges.
